**Other examples of hexagon naming systems can be found at hexagonNames.html.**

The wargame map has hexagons with names to identify them.

Note: This hexagon name is NOT a coordinate.

As the mouse moves, the hexagon point coordinate is calculated from the pixels on the map.

The hexagon grid is a simple cartesian x,y coordinate system used for wargame calculations.

The hexagon name is then calculated from the hexagon point coordinate (x,y).

hexagon point coordinate (x,y) → hexagon name

hexagon name → hexagon point coordinate (x,y)

The first map uses a 0101 naming system where the first 2 digits is the column index and the last 2 are the row index. In this system, the even column hexagons are offset.

The second map uses a G4 naming system where the first letters are the column index and the last numbers are the row index of the D column at a 60 degree angle.

The third map uses a E43 naming system where the first letters are the row index and the last numbers are the column index. The hexagon map is rotated 90 degrees.
